4 things to know about how we make money
- You never pay extra. Any commission comes out of the retailer’s margin, not your pocket.
- Our rankings are not for sale. No brand can pay for a top spot, ever.
- We name the losers as well as the winners, even when a better pick earns us nothing.
- Every affiliate link is clearly marked and opens at the retailer, so you always know where you are headed.
How we make money
Product Hunters is free to read. We keep it that way through affiliate links: when you click certain links to a retailer and buy something, the retailer pays us a small commission. It costs you nothing extra, and it funds the research, the testing, and the time it takes to do this honestly. That is the whole model. No paywalls, no sponsored rankings, no native advertising dressed up as editorial.
Amazon Associates Program
Product Hunters is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com and affiliated Amazon sites. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.
Amazon, the Amazon logo, AmazonSupply, and the AmazonSupply logo are trademarks of Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates. Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date and time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply to the purchase of the product.
Other affiliate programs
From time to time we may join additional affiliate networks (for example Skimlinks, Impact, Awin, ShareASale, or direct retailer programs) so we can point you to the best price wherever it lives. Whenever we do, we will name those programs in this section before we publish links into them. As of the date above, the Amazon Associates Program is our only active affiliate program.
How this affects what you pay
Nothing. The price you pay through one of our links is exactly the same as it would be if you went straight to the retailer. Commissions are paid by the retailer out of their own margin. You are never charged a markup for using our links, and you never will be.
How this affects our editorial picks
It doesn’t. A commission can never buy a place on one of our lists, change a ranking, or soften a verdict. We choose winners first and add links afterward. When the product that pays us the most is not the best one, we still recommend the best one and say so plainly, even if the better pick earns us no commission at all.
How to identify affiliate links
Affiliate links on Product Hunters are marked with rel="nofollow sponsored noopener" and open in a new tab at the retailer’s site. We also flag affiliate buttons and product cards visually within our reviews where it helps. If a link takes you to a store where you can buy something, you can safely assume it may be an affiliate link.
Required disclosures
This page is provided to comply with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission’s “Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising” (16 CFR Part 255) and with the participation requirements of the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program Operating Agreement. Where we have received a product free of charge or on loan for testing, we disclose that within the relevant review.
